DUES is a society run by students of the Faculty of Engineering at Dalhousie University with the purpose of coordinating, promoting and directing the campus life, recreational, social and charitable activities of all undergraduate students in the Faculty of Engineering at Dalhousie University. DUES holds an election in the winter semester each year to elect the executive team for the upcoming academic year.
General Elections Information
who can run in dues elections?
Only Active Members of DUES can run in its yearly election. Candidates must also remain Active Members for the duration of their term as executive to run (meaning a candidate cannot be on coop or in their last year of study).
who qualifies as a dues active member?
Anyone who is enrolled within the Faculty of Engineering as a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree and has paid the society fee shall be considered an Active Member for duration of the term that the fee was paid.
how does someone get nominated to run?
Once the Nomination Period has begun, the DUES Nomination Form will be available in the DUES Office and on daleng.ca.
who can vote in dues elections?
Only Regular Members of DUES can vote in its yearly election.
who qualifies as a dues regular member?
Anyone who is enrolled within the Faculty of Engineering as a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree student and has paid the society fee at any point during that academic year automatically qualifies as a DUES Regular Member.
How will i know when elections are coming up?
Once the Elections Return Officer has been appointed (no later than January 31st), the members of DUES will be notified of the commencement of the election and nomination process with a minimum of two weeks notice before election.
